The new season starts tonight. I'll probably watch to see what transpires, but my heart isn't in it.
Besides, it's on opposite Mythbusters.

Yeah, I figured I was gonna start hating this show sometime mid to late first season and came to do just that early second. But I still watch it anyway (though I never care if I miss an ep. Nothing happens, and there's always the 800 recap shows followed by the five minute "Previously On Lost" montages to catch me up...over and over again.).
That said...the season premiere...
SPOILERS and Such
Had me laughing with how bad it was, mostly from all the musical cues the show was giving the audience to indicate THIS IS OMINOUS, or THIS IS DRAMATIC, or as was the case when they reveal the wacky little island suburbia the "others" live on THIS IS SUPPOSED TO IMPRESS YOU!!! Seriously, the music was overkill.
People tell me they watch this show for all the character development, but to me, it's all just the same crap over and over again. Jack is a jerk who just wants to run everything, Hurley's fat, and Sawyer just gets shot. Or wounded. Or sick. Seriously, that's all he does. Hell, he gets air-tazered in this episode. How is he not dead yet? He's the only character besides Jin (whom I like because he doesn't speak english and is thus really quiet ) who I thought I could get to like, but whenever you think he might do something or be of use, he gets shot down or, ya know, actually shot. I don't care if you have a bunch of unlikeable characters, they can be good, but it's almost reaching Grey's Anatomy levels for me, where I just want them all to die because they're worthless. (I really hate Grey's Anatomy, if you can't tell)
I also love the great dialogue they got going so far. "It's not important who we were...it's who we are that matters" or whatever. Wow. I'm glad they followed that up with Jack's ex's great line: "It's not who he is...it's who you're not." Seriously. (And don't even bother trying to sell me on the fact that those two lines work because they arrive in connecting scenes and are trying to make a point. They're still bad.) This show should have been done with two seasons. Of course, they would have had to have some sort of coherent story to tell to get that done.
My point is, I think the show's dumb, but if it keeps up the unintentional hilarity of this episode, I'll keep watching.
Wow...sorry for the rant.

So I watched the "catch-up" program and the season finale. The only other episode I saw this season was the one featuring Locke (where we found out how he ended up in the chair, Locke met "jacob" and then ended up in a pit). I actually liked that episode.
Anayway, it's a pretty sad commentary on the quality of the show that after watching the hour-long "Lost: The Answers" program, I didn't walk away feeling as if I missed out having not watched the past season.
For the most part I enjoyed the finale... not in the way I enjoyed the first season, but more like how one might enjoy "The Da Vinci Code" (book, not movie). An amusing way to spend a couple hours. One thing it does is make me realize how many idiots there are watching TV because the number of people who thing this show is full of interesting and exciting twists and turns boggles my mind. Even after not watching the whole season, I could see every plot device. They practically beat you to death with them.
For example: You KNEW that it was going to turn out that Ben wasn't lying and Naomi (parachute girl) wasn't who she said she was.
It was also pretty damn clear that Jack's "flashbacks" were actually "flashforwards". Especially with the conversations i.e. It's not who we are, it's who we will become." Okay, I know that wasn't the line, but it was the gist of it. The 'foreshadowing' on this show is more like 'foreclubbing'... "foremugging"... whatever, it's not subtle.
I really didn't like the off-island Jack storyline. I just think it's stupid. The on-island stuff was entertaining though.

I usually watch that one because I end up missing the 9 pm one the week before.
I've started watching this again this season and I can't really say why. It's really weird. I don't really care about it. I don't really care about the characters. It's more sort of... what will they (the writers/producers) do this week?
Some of the episodes are so predictable it hurts; yet still I watch.
Also, didn't the producers say very specificially early on when people were speculating about the island that it wasn't time-travel.

Yeah it does seem hokey, especially this season with the old lady and "coming back to the island stuff. I guess I am just hooked.
for some reason I'm particularly intrigued by the Richard/Christian/Jacob hieroglyphics stuff and what it all means. The conclusion will probably determine my ultimate judgement of the show. It better be good.

I'm loving Sun right now.
I will say, that the Ben-as-a-kid thing surprised me this week.

So ... SPOILER: Smoky is Jacobs adversary and can only appear as the dead? Which means all the "ghosts" (Christian, Clair, the priest etc...) were Smoky and Locke is really dead? ... Is Richard captain of the ship? ... Ha, Juliet, so obvious, wearing a red shirt and everything... I hope the bomb blasts Rose and Bernard into the beyond.
