If I were you, I'd see this movie before reading any reviews on it to see how you feel, but heres my very, very basic take for right now.
This movie is only 97 minutes long and that's its huge problem. It casts aside all the characterization that's been building up for some action set pieces that truly do feel like set pieces. Granted, the action is a lot of fun and the side of me that screams like a fanboy had fun through a good chunk of the film, but this just wasn't a good movie.
To be spoilerish without mentioning the exact characters these apply to:
BEGINNING OF SPOILERS
One character dies and it's pointless and a waste and nobody seems to care. One character dies and it's poignant, but pointless as they come back. One character dies and people care and it seems permanent.
Two characters are depowered and stay that way. Another is depowered but seems to be regaining them about five minutes later.
END OF SPOILERS
The real problem is that I just didn't care about any of these characters this time around. At all. It was a hollow film.
I'd give it about a 6 out of 10 or a 2.5 out of 4, I guess. I wrote a more in-depth review elsewhere I might put here later when I refine it a bit.
